My Life's meaning

Meaning of Life? – This has been the ultimate question since the beginning of mankind. It seems inherent by our nature to ask questions like “Where did I come from? Why am I in this world? What’s my purpose on earth? What’s the meaning of all this?”

There are so many life’s meanings such as existence, goals, religious, freedom, beliefs and values. But I think my life’s meaning is being a happy and good person who can bring the happiness to the friends, family and also can contribute to the society. In the real world, we are always looking for something which is better what we have right now, like a better job, a better house, a better meal, better result etc… why do we need that? Why do we need work so hard and study so hard for that? Because it can change our quality of life and we will feel happy when it happens.

Some people think they will be happy when they have a lot of money, for me, I don’t need to be as rich as Donald trump or bill gates to make myself feel happy (obviously I cannot be as rich as them), therefore I do have my own definition of happy. I’ll feel happy when I achieve my goals; when I receive a gift; when I attain a good academic result; when I watch a wonderful movie; when I read a good article; when I know my friends and family care about me; when I know I bring the happiness to my friends, etc… Again be a happy and harmless person to the society are the goal that I am fighting for.

Life is beautiful, it always surprise us in many ways and gives us so much sweet memories. Being a happy and good person makes my life meaningful.

Thanks, Ma Li, for your inspiring post. I like this statement about work & study: "...it can change our quality of life and we will feel happy when it happen(s)."

Yes, we give life it's meaning. You outline the value of "simple" pleasures.

"Be(ing) a happy and good person make(s) my life meaningful."

Great!

Hi. I like the relaxing style of ur writing.

People always keep the big goal in their mind as the motivation to keep on going but sometimes neglect the small happiness around us in the everyday's life just as a lovely gift from our friends, a good artical as u mentioned.

appiness is not measured by the material richness but by the spiritual enjoyment.

Sometimes i consider that compared with the starving children in those poor countries, we really have no reason not to be happy. To them, our living condition is just a heaven. We own everything we need in fact except a heart of gratitude.

Enjoy our life and make the world happier. Cheers!
